All the Light We Don’t See: Netflix drama features refugees from the Ukrainian war in its cast


The miniseries starring Mark Ruffalo will soon be streaming.

Coming soon to Netflixanother drama miniseries, this time, inspired by the best-selling novel In Antonio Doerr: All the light we can’t see. And the director Shawn Levyalong with the creative team behind the series, revealed, via The Hollywood journalistthat the story turned out to be more relevant than they imagined.




Adaptation of the Pulitzer-winning World War II novel, All the Light We Cannot See deals with the dark theme of Nazism. Director Shawn Levy was already a fan of the work and explained that the idea was, in fact, to do everything possible not to reduce it. In a series there was the possibility of “doing justice” to the complexity of the story.

A world event also had an impact on production: the war in Ukraine. According to the filmmakers, while the project was being filmed in Budapest it was impossible not to take into account what was happening in the world. The filmmakers revealed that they were following it in real time and would make changes to the script because “we couldn’t ignore current events” (Via: The Hollywood journalist).
