In 2018, actor John Krasinski stepped behind the camera to direct the sci-fi film Quietly, in which a family tries to survive the threat of mysterious creatures that attack at the slightest sound. In this case, he directs and plays Emily Blunt, the person he shares the city with.

It is a huge success for Paramount, which is producing and distributing the film. Without Sound attracts more than 2 million curious little people to French theaters ready to scare themselves. with catchline “If they find out, it’s already too late”The studio is aimed specifically at horror fans… even if it’s not just that.

Based on the concept of the film, Krasinski had to make his film all about direction and sound. In particular, he enjoyed testing strategies for drowning out the sounds of everyday life:

“I started hearing everything from the click of a knife and fork on a plate to the sound of shoes falling on the floor when you’re painting. It even became a kind of game at home: my wife and I tried to be quiet, and if one of us made the slightest noise, we had to turn to each other as quietly as possible and say ‘die’, and in the end, it was a very good preparation.”

Voiceless also has another peculiarity: it includes only 25 dialogues. The first script contained only one! This is explained by the characters not being able to communicate, but because the couple’s daughter, played by the excellent Millicent Simmonds, is deaf. Therefore, they communicate in sign language. Practical when you need to shut up.

Voiceless leaves Netflix on November 6.
