Mamonas Assassinas were one of the most popular groups of the 90s in Brazil, marking the popular imagination of the country. The quintet became famous for their good humor, irreverent lyrics and unusual costumes, and enjoyed enormous success with only one album in their career, which ended with a tragic plane crash in 1996. Killer Mamonas: The Movie will tell the story of the band from the beginning and has already received a first trailer.

Inspirations

The director of Killer Mamonas: The Movie will be Edson Spinello, who also worked on other productions of the band, such as Killer Mamonas – The impossible does not exist and the Sony series Castor beans. He said that, for his work, he was inspired by other famous biopics, such as Rocket man AND Bohemian Rhapsody.

Spinello also revealed that he used the shows as a reference in the research process for the film, as they were important in Mamonas Assassinas’ career and helped the band show all their energy to the public.
