The federal government will pay an extraordinary aid of R$ 2,640 to artisanal fishermen who benefit from the defense insurance registered in the municipalities of the Northern Region in an emergency situation due to drought.
The fisherman will also be entitled to other welfare or social security benefits or any other benefit of any nature if he is entitled. The aid will be paid in a single payment.
The Ministries of Fisheries and Aquaculture and Social Security will regulate the provisional measure (MP) published in an additional edition of the Official Journal of the Union this Wednesday (1st), with the necessary methods to make the payment.
The estimate is that professional artisanal fishermen from 94 municipalities in the region defined in the MP will be served.
Federal government support to fight the water crisis in Amazon already amounts to R$627 million, which does not include fishermen’s defense insurance and other emergency aid.
