Surprise for the first start in France! Filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki proves he has a very strong fan base in France, taking first place in the ratings with his latest film. The boy and the heron. The film received 227,457 views. A score well ahead of Ponyo on the Cliff and Howl’s Moving Castle, his two previous biggest successes in France.

This is the 8th best start of 2023. And best of all, it’s the second best opening of all time for a Japanese animated film in France! The distributor clarifies that this film also signs “The best start in the history of a film distributed by WildBunch.“A record sequence for a film release that has been able to take full advantage of this public holiday release day.

On the 2nd step, we find an adventure movie pricelessWith Eric Fraticelli and Didier Bourdon. It’s the best start for a film from a director who previously directed The Clan and Building Permit.

Finally, in 3rd place, fl takes off, with 44,745 viewers (including 16,468 in AVP). For reference, the film is inspired by the life of navigator Florence Artaud. This is Geraldine Danone’s first feature film.
