After the announcement of Anthony Anderson’s departure Right ahead of its 22nd season, a new cast member was recently revealed! super girl Vet Mehcad Brooks is swapping his superhero gear for a less flashy detective outfit after joining the NBC revival, and has now shared his reaction to the news.
While not much information has yet been revealed about Mehcad Brooks’ investigative character, it’s clear he’s still excited. The actor took instagram to react to big news and give followers advice on how to follow dreams and how to manifest your goals really works:

Right will mark Mehcad Brooks’ first television show since then super girl. The actor starred regularly on the show for the first five seasons, playing Superman’s journalist and best friend James Olsen, as well as season two superhero Guardian, before leaving to focus on other projects. However, he returned in the series finale in 2021, reuniting with the original trio of Kara, Winn and James. With him joining the THIS franchise, will definitely be something to look forward to.
Note that this isn’t the first time Mehcad Brooks has been in the franchise. In fact, he appeared in the 13th season episode, “Personal Fouls”, but only as a single character. With him playing a detective, she will certainly stay longer, especially since Anthony Anderson’s detective Kevin Bernard will not be in attendance. It’s unclear how Brooks’ character will fit into the mix, but more details will likely be released as production progresses.
Meanwhile, despite Right losing an original star, Sam Waterston will surely remain in the shoes of Jack McCoy. With his return for next season, the actor is making history as the original series’ first star in the top 17 of seasons. Waterston was initially related to S. Epatha Merkerson, who played Lt. Anita Van Buren for nearly 400 episodes.
The former veteran TV show returned earlier this year after being hiatus for more than a decade. Right it was a hit with ratings and so it seemed obvious that NBC would renew it SVU Yes Organized crime, which the network did. While the season finale wasn’t what people expected, it proved that the flagship series found a new audience.
Watch Mehcad Brooks join Right family should be something to look forward to, although as a fan of his CW show, it will be hard to see him as a character other than James Olsen. Hopefully, he’s going to be around for a while and based on his social media post, he’s going to do it.
