Alexandre Pato remains in decline in Sao Paulo. The attacker, moreover, was not on the list for the fourth consecutive match in the Brazilian championship. Against Cruzeiro, last Thursday (2), he was absent again. The scenario, therefore, has become common, and the club indicates that the athlete should be out of Morumbi’s plans for next season.
At 34 years old, the player did not concentrate with the rest of the team and spent 15 days without being mentioned at all by coach Dorival Júnior. The same happened in the duels against Grêmio, Palmeiras and Athletico-PR.
Despite the lack of weight at the front, with Lucas Moura’s muscle injury and Calleri’s ankle surgery, Dorival signals that he has no intention of taking advantage of Pato, whose contract expires in December this year.
The Tricolore management is treating the matter with caution, as the attacker has created identification with the fans. Proof of this is that he is in his third career spell at the club. In May this year he had already signed a productivity agreement with San Paolo, although his debut came in the draw against Red Bull Bragantino.
In the last 15 matches Pato has been in the squad only seven times and has appeared on the pitch three times. It was 31 minutes against América-MG and 20 minutes against Fortaleza.
Alexandre Pato remained on the bench in the reserves against LDU (both in the quarterfinals Sula), Vasco and Goiás. The São Paulo coach used all the reserve athletes with offensive characteristics (Michel Araújo, Juan, David and Erison). The exception was Pato.
In the latest interviews Dorival has already underlined that he is waiting for a response on the pitch from the attacker to evaluate his performance in important matches. Without Pato, Sao Paulo beat Cruzeiro 1-0 and moved significantly away from the relegation zone.
