International negotiations

While waiting for the lists of people authorized to leave the Gaza Strip, members of the federal government have coordinated with the Israeli government the repatriation of the group of Brazilians who have been staying since last month in the houses rented by Itamaraty in Rafah and Khan Younis, in the south of Gaza Strip, awaiting definition of the border, closed since the beginning of the war.

Among the appeals of the Brazilian government are the direct connections between the two countries made by the Foreign Minister, Mauro Vieira, to the government of Israel and also to Egypt, in the hope of facilitating the return of the Brazilians as soon as possible.

As announced on Friday 3rd by the chancellery’s press office, the government of Israel Itamaraty promised that by next Wednesday, the 8th, the group of 34 Brazilians will have resisted Gaza Strip will leave the Palestinian territory. The guarantee was given to the chancellor by Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen Mauro Vieira. In a phone conversation this morning, Cohen promised that “in a worst-case scenario,” the group would leave Gaza on that date.
