Adapted from Stephen King, Jesse tells the story of a couple’s fantasy that goes wrong. During a sex game in which she is tied to a bed, Jessie suddenly finds herself alone when her husband Gerald has a heart attack and falls at her feet. He will try to free himself as quickly as possible, because then he begins to have strange visions…

Jesse (Gerald’s Game) Marks Mike Flanagan’s first collaboration with the Netflix platform. The feature film is the “original” of the platform, already a horror film and with a group of actors found in most of the works of the author, especially “The Fall of the House of Usher”.

Carla Gugino (Verna Usher) and her husband Bruce Greenwood (Usher’s patriarch in the series) play the main characters. Other actors appear, such as Karel Strucken (Doctor Sleep), Henry Thomas (Hill House, Usher) or Kate Siegel (Camille Asher).

What makes Jesse unique is that it explores through its protagonist’s physical and psychological ordeal the deeper trauma he buried in order to survive. It’s this revelation and its aftermath that makes Jessie a slow-burn survival movie like so many.
