A 32-year-old candidate was arrested after being caught with a knife at the Escola Dom Bosco, in Poços de Caldas, south of Minas Gerais, this Sunday, 5, during the first day of the National High School Examination (Enem) 2023. Was eliminated from the exam, used as a gateway to higher education.

To the Earth, Military Police said the object was identified when the student asked to go to the bathroom. When the inspector told him that he would have to pass through the metal detector before leaving the room, the boy reported having a knife in his belt and voluntarily handed it over to the security guards.
According to the company, the Enem organization contacted the Military Police, who recorded a Detailed Occurrence Statement (TCO) for a crime of minor offensive potential and released the candidate.
The boy claimed that it was normal for him to carry the object with him. However, the organization decided to automatically delete him from Enem.
In a press conference held this Sunday, the 5th, the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio (Inep), the body responsible for organizing Enem, was questioned about the incident, but declared that it was not knowledge of the case.
4,293 candidates eliminated
Among the 3.9 million registered students, 4,293 were eliminated during the first day of the Enem 2023 exams for having brought electronic equipment with them, for having been absent before the minimum allowed time (3.30 pm), for having used printed or for not following inspectors’ instructions, according to preliminary data from the Ministry of Education.
Another 905 students were affected by logistical issues that included medical emergencies, temporary emergency power outages and water supply problems. In these cases it is possible to request the reapplication of the exams.
