Horror fans have yet another horror film to watch during their annual Halloween celebrations. The feature film “Irmã Morte”, recently released by Netflix, is a prequel to “Verônica: Jogo Sobrenatural” (2017), another production available on the streaming service.

Director Paco Plaza, of “REC” (2007), directed the work and wrote the screenplay together with producer and screenwriter Jorge Guerricaechevarría, of “As Leis da Fronteira” (2021).

Synopsis

The film “Sister Death” is a supernatural horror story set in post-war Spain. The narrative follows Narcissa, a young novice who accepts a teaching position in a former convent. As the days pass, she discovers that the place is full of terrifying secrets and she decides to unravel its disturbing mysteries to protect herself and the young women under her supervision.

Who’s in “Sister Death”

The cast includes Aria Bedman, from “Silêncio” (2023), and Almudena Amor, from “O Bom Patrão” (2021), in the roles of Sister Narcisa and Sister Socorro respectively.

Maru Valdivielso, from “Verônica: Jogo Sobrenatural” (2017), plays Sister Julia, and Luisa Merelas, from “As Beasts” (2022), plays Mother Superior. Meanwhile, Chelo Vivares, of “Desaparecidos” (2020), plays Sister Sagrario.

Sara Roch and Olimpia Roch, both from “La Prima Comunione” (2022), play Rosa and Elvirita, in that order.

Adriana Camarena and Martina Delgado, making their first appearance in feature films, play Ana María and Marina.

Reception

On IMDb, a database of audiovisual productions, music and electronic games, “Irmã Morte” currently has a rating of 5.8.

Meanwhile, on the aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, a site that aggregates reviews of films and series, 75% of specialized critics and 79% of the public expressed positive opinions on the feature film until the publication of this text.
