One of the most profitable businesses in the entertainment industry, Hollywood it grosses billions of dollars every year at the box office, no matter how many failures there are annually. However, there were several productions that cost a lot, but had a good return and even made a profit.
Especially in high-budget productions, studios spend a lot of money to build elaborate sets and lots of special effects. Typically, these are projects of this type that cost a lot of money. Second place went to Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom ($432 million), followed by Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (£338 million), Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (£308 million) and Avengers: Age of Ultron (£297 million). Interestingly, none of these films are on the list of highest-grossing films in history, led by Avatar (2009), Avengers: Endgame (2019) and Titanic (1997).
