The “inhuman” plot grows…
Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani) has lived her first rescue attempt as a superhero in this week’s episode of ‘Ms Marvel’, one of the best series of 2022, and it has been… well, a little clumsy.
Unsurprisingly, our young Ms. Marvel is charming and witty, but she’s definitely a learner as she goes. However, rescuing her went well. Very good, actually. Now when her failed heroic attempt draws the attention of the DODC, Kamala has to go on the run. It’s a bit tricky at first until heartthrob Kamran (Rish Shah) pulls up in front of her in a sleek black car, opens the door, and says, “Come in.”. If Kamala wasn’t already in love with him, now would be the time.
After the post-credits scene of the first episode of ‘Ms. Marvel’, we are surprised again at the end of episode 2, and not only by the appearance of Kamran. It turns out that in the back seat of the car there is a presence that is revealed by addressing Kamala, with confidence and security. That voice says, “I’ve waited a long time to meet you”.
Under any other circumstances, this would be unsettling. Being told something like that by an unknown woman from the back of a car is not comforting at all. Nevertheless, Kamala has met her before, in her visions, which makes this in-person encounter all the more amazing for the teen..
The second episode of ‘Ms. Marvel’ is peppered with visions featuring the ‘car lady’. Originally, it led us to assume that it was about her great-grandmother, Aisha, or at least that she had some connections to Aisha and her disappearance. And can you blame us? We too became obsessed with the mysterious old lady after hearing the story involving her and her (Kamala’s grandmother) daughter Sana.
According to family history, during the civil war that followed the Partition in Indiathe Khan family was boarding a train leaving the city when Sana (then a little girl) got separated from the group.

Just as the train left the station, Sana returned, claiming to have found her way back by following the stars.. This sounds suspiciously similar to the way Kamala’s powers are presented. It’s not crazy to suggest that a girl could mistake that crystal light for stars. Also, flukes of life, Sana’s return also happens to be the moment when Aisha disappears forever.
After hearing that particular part of the story, Kamala’s bracelets begin to glow and she is plunged into another vision with a train whistling and chugging on the tracks. The figure of a woman with an outstretched hand appears before Kamala’s eyes.. The woman may be blurred by the fog, but we have an eagle’s eye when it comes to Marvel and we can tell that he looks an awful lot like the woman in the car.
From then on, Kamala is on a mission to delve into her great-grandmother’s life story. Looks like we’re about to get some answers with the woman in the car. If you have thought that it could be Aisha with some kind of immortality, you would not be the only one, but no. Here they have put it to us folded.

After his cryptic introduction, Kamran introduces her as his mother. This revelation is surprising considering that the visions have largely implied a link to the great-grandmother. However, one thing does not take away from the other… necessarily.
We assumed that Kamala’s visions are symptomatic of her gifts as she learns to control them, which may still be true, but what if Kamran’s mother uses them as a means to connect with her, taking this opportunity to connect with the protagonist about an important matter that concerns them both?
This would make Kamran’s mother powerful in some sense, which fits perfectly with the theory that Kamala is inhuman and that she may be too. We know from the comics that Kamran is an Inhuman who possesses the power to emit glowing bioluminescent and biokinetic energy that he can channel into explosive power. The two also have a love connection until he turns against her.

In an interview with RadioTimes about his character’s history in the comics, Rish Shah admitted that There was still a lot to know about Kamran, advancing: “You will have to wait to see what happens”.
It’s too early to suggest this is how the story will play out, but the ties to the Inhumans they would also explain Kamala’s previous scene with Bruno (Matt Lintz)in which they discover that the power does not come from the bracelet, but from within.
So… Inhuman or what? We may not get any concrete answers about the origins of Kamala’s power, but the surprise appearance of Kamran’s mother suggests that these reveals are on their way.
