Google Maps could get a chatbot in the future: functionality found in the lines of code of the Beta version of the app
OR Google Maps could soon receive a native AI chatbot: a feature would be in development and has been found in the Beta code of the platform by the Android Authority. It’s not yet possible to find out how the feature would work, as there isn’t a preview available in the app yet.
- Google launches notification feed to keep you informed
- Google search can solve complex mathematical problems
A few exposed lines of code tell you that you must accept the privacy policy to start a conversation with the bot, but they don’t go much further. OR Google Zoom in generative AI capabilities for your products, including searchbut in the information found there is no mention of the technology.

So far it is only possible to speculate on how a chatbot could improve the Maps experience. The resource could be used to provide more information about a route, for example by using more natural and conversational language. Plus, it can be activated to offer specific recommendations for places to visit or businesses nearby, just as if you were chatting with a friend.
Since the mention only appeared in the codes, this is a possible sign that the bot was still in the very early stage of development. After this phase, it will still be necessary to undergo public testing in the Beta version before arriving at a possible release for everyone. The process can take months, so it’s best not to set too many immediate expectations.
Google has implemented artificial intelligence in search
Google search in Brazil has been updated to include generative AI summaries before the main results: the tool collects data from different sources and prepares a text with answers to the main questions on the topic. The new feature also allows you to use a conversation mode to continue your search with the help of artificial intelligence.
Some results may show user ratings and comments on properties on Maps: if the application adopts a chatbot, this is the route that can be followed there.
