and three. After Batgrill and Scooby! Holiday Haunt, which won’t make it to our screens even if it’s completely shot, is yet another Warner film to be “scrapped” by the studios.
Today we learned that Coyote vs Acme will not see the light of day despite the $70 million already spent. Announced in 2020, it was supposed to feature the famous Looney Tunes character.
This film, which was supposed to be a mix of animation and live action, centered on a down-on-his-luck lawyer who takes on a nasty coyote as a client. The latter wants to file a lawsuit against ACME for its defective products. A lawyer soon discovers that his former boss represents a company…
in the casting? John Cena, Will Forte and Lana Condor (all the boys I used to love). Coyote vs Acme was scheduled to be released in 2023 on the HBO Max streaming platform.
Warner Bros justified this choice by changing the strategy within the teams. New CEO David Zaslav now prefers to focus on film releases and hopes to revive the animation division in 2024.
This choice is also monetary: from the 70 million spent, the studios were able to recover 30 million in taxes, limiting the loss to “only” 40 million.
Director Dave Green (Ninja Turtles 2) did not respond to this statement, who shared his feelings on social networks:

“For three years, I had the opportunity to make the movie Wile E. .
We were all determined to honor the legacy of these historical figures and make it happen. Throughout this journey, the test screenings have received very good feedback. I’m proud of the final product and beyond devastated by Warner Bros’ decision. But Will E. The coyote’s mind is dominated by endurance and perseverance.”
