The popular and ambitious science fiction literary trilogy adapted by the creators of Game of Thrones for Netflix: enough to make The 3-Body Problem one of the most anticipated series of the 2024 season. The first trailer sets the scene in a few months. Previously, subscribers were eagerly waiting for the platform to be revealed on the project launch date of this event.
In December 2023, originally announced in January 2024, then pushed back to March 2024, the 3-body problem is officially launched next March 21 on the platform. It’s time for showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss to refine the SF world, which is very different from what they proposed when creating Westeros for “Game of Thrones”. And ambitious, once again.
The first extract has been revealed!
This is evidenced by the first new extract, which immerses John Bradley (Samuel Tarly from Game of Thrones) in a virtual (or parallel? or extraterrestrial?) world while wearing mysterious glasses. Until he is suddenly reminded that he was not “invited” …
What is the “3-body problem?”
3 body problems or The three-body problem is an adaptation of the novel by the Chinese author Liu Cixin, which was translated in France in 2016 (published by Actes Sud) and followed by dark forest and immortal death. Bridging multiple worlds and temporalities, the story tells how a disastrous decision made in 1960s China travels across time and space, and five explorers face the greatest threat to humanity.
In the official press release, the showrunners introduced the series as follows: “Liu Cixin’s trilogy is the most ambitious sci-fi series we’ve read. It takes readers on a journey from the 1960s to the end of time, from life on our pale blue dot to the far reaches of the universe.
Through a hyper-realistic approach based on the exact sciences, as especially Christopher Nolan can, they will specifically explore these questions: “What would contact between humans and extraterrestrial species be like?” and “How many extraterrestrials can we talk about?” The Answer launches in March 2024 on Netflix.
