One of the best Netflix series will return with new episodes and these are all the details we know so far. Do you want to go back to Moordale?
‘Sex Education’ has become one of the most beloved Netflix series by viewers, and season 4 is already on the way. This love of the public does not surprise us: its mixture of drama and comedy, its adolescent look, its open mind with sex, its social and feminist conscience… The series created by Laurie Nunnn is one of the best Netflix original series for own merits.
When its first season premiered we said that ‘Sex Education’ was all you needed to know about sex and John Hughes never told you: a series that takes the sexual vicissitudes of its young protagonists with humor giving a twist to gender stereotypes teen and giving space to diverse and delusional stories that address important issues ranging from bullying to abortion and sexual harassment. As one of the best comedy series on Netflix, all these topics are treated with a great sense of humor, although without ever losing sight of the seriousness that they carry.
Since then, the series has grown and its characters too: in the third season, the students of the Moordale institute faced the dictatorship of the new director of the center, Hope (Jemima Kirke from ‘Girls’), but Otis (Asa Butterfield), Maeve (Emma Mackey), Eric (Ncuti Gatwa), Adam (Connor Swindells) and company knew how to defend their freedom and rights. And we’re not forgetting Dr. Jean Milbourne (Gillian Anderson), who turns an initially unwanted pregnancy into a necessary turnaround in her life. The new episodes placed the production high among the best Netflix series in 2021, and also confirmed it as one of the most addictive series on Netflix.
The fourth season of ‘Sex Education’ has already been confirmed on Netflix, and here we collect all the news that appear: when will the release date be? Who will return to the cast and what new signings will we see? How will the story continue? Will Otis and Maeve be together one day or is theirs doomed to fail?
‘Sex Education’, season 4: release date
The premiere date for ‘Sex Education’ season 4 has not been announced yet.. The Netflix series has been renewed, yes, and we hope that the new episodes will not take too long to arrive. The third season premiered in September 2021, breaking the tradition of the series being released in January. The pandemic sure had a lot to do with the decision.
That same month of September the series was renewed for a season 4, so the machinery was launched soon. Now, the release date is still pure speculation: we could go back to moordale high school in late 2022 or maybe early 2023so that the series would recover that place in the month of January.
‘Sex Education’, season 4: synopsis

Spoilers for ‘Sex Education’ season 3 below
How will the story of ‘Sex Education’ continue? Let’s first quickly review what happened in the last episode of the third season. Otis and Maeve continue to be one of those couples that we don’t know if they will end up together or not. In the season We finally see them confess their feelings and kiss, but Maeve gets an incredible opportunity to study in the United States and she takes it.. Their paths part, and we don’t know how they’ll be when they meet again (if they ever do) in Season 4.
Maeve goes on adventures, but leaves a big problem in her town: after the events and scandals of the third season, it is announced that the Moordale Institute will close its doors forever. The bosses did not like all the media furore that the institution has caused as a result of their honest conversations about sexuality, so they directly decide to close the center. This means that all the young cast of the series will have to look for other institutes in which to continue their studies, and not necessarily all of them will end up together again. Or will they fight for the survival of their beloved institute?

In statements to Varietyactress Aimee Lou Wood (who plays Aimee), said: “I basically know nothing about season four. Our school is gone so I’m confused about what’s going on there. I know a few little things about my character, but I really don’t know much. I hope it continues to flourish because I felt like it was growing in the third season. It will be interesting to see more of them outside of school and in their own lives.”
Secondly, Eric and Adam definitively break their relationship. As Eric rightly says: he is ready to fly, and Adam is now starting to walk. Although here we must take something into account: the actor who plays Eric, Ncuti Gatwa, has been announced as the new Doctor Who in the famous British BBC series. Will this mean that he will no longer be part of the cast of ‘Sex Education’? Or will he be able to juggle all of his obligations? We will have to see it, but we would not be surprised to see less of Eric from now on.
Other characters have their own challenges ahead. Aimee finds herself without a boyfriend for the first time and willing to improve her relationship with herself (and with the traumatic aftermath of the sexual harassment she suffered in season 2). Jean gave birth at the end of the third season, and in the next episodes we will see her in a new role of mother, and dealing with a still unclear relationship with Jakob, the father of the child… BUT IT IS NOT! ! As we find out in the finale, Jakob is not the father of Jean’s baby.. So Who? There is a mystery to be solved in season 4.
‘Sex Education’, season 4: cast

In the absence of Netflix confirming the official cast of the series, we hope that the usual suspects will appear again in the fourth season of ‘Sex Education’. These are main cast members:
Now, there are characters that we already know will not return to the series. Simone Ashley, who plays Olivia, announced that she would not return due to her commitments to ‘The Bridgertons’. The actress was the protagonist of the second season, and she will return for the third season of ‘The Bridgertons’ and the following ones.
As we pointed out before, We wouldn’t be surprised to see Ncuti Gatwa saying goodbye to the series either.: the commitment of ‘Doctor Who’ is important and substantial, perhaps too much to combine it with the filming of ‘Sex Education’.
And the new signings? For now, we only know that ‘Sex Education’ will incorporate two trans characters in the new season, and is looking for the performers. At the moment we know a little about his personalities: they are Abbi and Kent, defined in the casting process as a “power couple”. Abbi has a “90s Winona Ryder vibe” and is “her gang leader and her college queen bee.” For his part, Kent “comes from a home that accepts him, but isn’t so sure of his status as a popular kid at his university.” He is “dumb, forgetful and a great listener”, and has been with Abbi for a while.
