Dwayne Johnson on Instagram in 2021 – “I don’t think our founding fathers ever imagined that a six-foot-tall, bald, tattooed, half-black, half-Samoan, tequila-drunk guy would be driving a pickup truck and driving. A fan team can join their club. But if that happens, it would be an honor to serve you.”
“Or it means that you are a model of what people hope to be as a leader.” Trevor Noah says with humor as part of the podcast. “Or it’s gotten so bad that these people are like, ‘We need somebody to come in here and beat everybody up!’.
“I received visits from various parties”
After a few laughs, Dwayne Johnson reveals that what could have been a simple idea ended up being floated between several representatives, without specifying their identity or political affiliation. “I was getting visits from different parties. They asked me if I was going to nominate myself and if I could nominate myself.
Beyond the April 2021 survey, they went even further according to: “They also provided extensive research and data of their own that would prove if I ever decided to go down this path that I would be a real contender. (…) It was all really surreal because it was never my goal. The goal was never to be in politics, and in fact, there are many things in politics that I hate.”
Dwayne Johnson in the campaign for the series “Young Rock”
“I don’t want that for my kids now.”
Dwayne Johnson For some time, he considered a run for the White House, with an eye on the 2020 campaign. Before finally giving up in the summer of 2018, without closing the door: “I care so much about our country… and the idea of one day becoming president to do positive things and make profound changes is very appealing.”
In 2022, he once again chose to refuse the proposal, namely to protect his two younger daughters (ages 5 and 7) from such upheavals in their lives, even though he knows that he missed important moments in the life of his eldest, an old man. 22. “I know what it’s like to be apart and not be there for birthdays, not be there to pick me up or drop me off at school and all that stuff.. (…) Now I don’t want that for my children.”
Around 2032 and beyond?
But the door is not closed for him yet: “If that’s what people want, of course I’ll consider that possibility.” concluded Trevor Noah very seriously at the microphone. Is there a ‘Ronald Reagan-style’ fate for The Rock? Remember that in 1960, the future president, then an actor, led a actors’ strike before entering the Oval Office in 1981 to head the Screen Actors Guild. Also note that the series Young Rock explores Dwayne Johnson’s youth. The latter, in his role, is campaigning for the presidency of the United States in 2032. So see you in nine years?
