The Italian fans fill the city center to celebrate the unprecedented victory over Boca Juniors
The official celebration between Fluminense players and fans began this Sunday at 9am (Brasilia time) in the center of Rio de Janeiro. The rally of the tricolors began two hours earlier, in Praça XV, where countless fans gathered to continue the party that has been going on since the penultimate Saturday, November 4th.
Rio de Janeiro State Military Police estimated the party’s rotating audience was more than 100,000 fans. Even though it was morning, the strong heat was present from the beginning of the procession. For Sunday the expected maximum temperature is 40ºC. The party started below 32ºC.
At this Sunday’s celebration there was an electric trio parade with players and members of the technical committee. Furthermore, fan groups performed together.
Provocation to rivals
The players and the tricolor president Mário Bittencourt sang songs provoking Rio de Janeiro’s rivals, also referring to Botafogo as a “neighborhood” and Flamengo fans as “theatre fans”. Furthermore, David Braz lifted the Boca Juniors coffin during the parade.

Diniz dropped from the electric trio
At a certain point, coach Fernando Diniz came down from the electric trio to greet the fans. There was some confusion, but it was controlled. The coach was accompanied by his wife and children: one of them had his hair dyed half red and green, in reference to the colors of his father’s club.
Celebration of the players
Defender David Braz, reserve for most of the season, was the player who aroused the most enthusiasm with the chants of the fans. Furthermore, he kicked each player’s corners, as Maracanã fans traditionally do.
Felipe Melo values flu employees
The Italian defender made a point of promoting the club’s employees. Wardrobe Denilson, also in the electric trio, earned player recognition.
– For more than 30 years in Fluminense, he is the wardrobe of the house… I want to praise the aunt who sweeps, the uncle who takes care, everyone is part of the Fluminense family. Everyone is a champion – said Felipe Melo.
John Kennedy applauded
The striker responsible for the title goal arrived at the party shortly after. The president of Fluminense was keen to announce his arrival and that the tricolors celebrated me in a big way. The agent played the music enchanted by the tricolors in the stands.
Confusions
The party had some confusion, but it was quickly resolved by the Military Police. Furthermore, some players, such as David Braz and Felipe Melo, wanted to speak into the microphone to stop the fight. Furthermore, during the meeting many people felt sick due to the strong heat in Rio de Janeiro.
