Willem Dafoe remembers spending 6 hours a day doing makeup on Poor Creatures

“Four hours in, two hours out every day – I arrived at three in the morning, sitting in the chair, meditating and trying to deal with being still,” he said. “You can’t sleep because it’s so complex and you have to work with the people who apply it.

Then everyone arrives at seven o’clock and your day begins. You film a whole day. Then you take it off. It’s a difficult task, but I enjoyed working with a mask there – literally, a mask.
