The heat wave persisting over Brazil has left Sao Paulo extremely hot since Sunday, with a level of heat rarely seen in the capital of Sao Paulo.
This Monday 13 November 2023, the National Institute of Meteorology recorded 37.7°C at the Mirante de Santana meteorological station, in the north of the capital. This is the climatological reference site of São Paulo, where Inmet has been carrying out regular measurements since 1943.

The brand of 37.7°C in Sao Paulo recorded on 11/13/23, it was a record for the year 2023, for the second consecutive day, exceeding 37.1°C on Sunday 12 November.
The heat of 37.7°C in Sao Paulo broke several records
- it was the highest temperature of the year 2023 (previous record 37.1 on 11/23/12)
- it was the highest temperature for a November day since 1943 (previous record 37.1 on 11/23/12)
- it was the second highest temperature ever measured by the National Institute of Meteorology of the city of São Paulo, since 1943 (current record 37.8 on 10/17/2014)
In addition to the record highest maximum temperature of the year, the morning of November 13 was the warmest in the capital São Paulo in 2023, with a minimum temperature of 24.3°C

When will it cool down?

Very warm air will still prevail in São Paulo until Friday and until then temperatures around 38°C could be recorded again. It will be a little less hot on Friday, although the heat should be around 34°C. The temperature is expected to return to normal only at the weekend, when the heat is expected not to exceed 31°C.
Rain shower conditions will increase between Friday and Saturday, November 18, as a cold front moves along the coast of Sao Paulo.
