Once the American actor wraps up filming on Gladiator 2 (which is set to resume production in a few weeks), the latter will reunite with beloved director Antoine Fuqua for this ambitious epic.
The two men have collaborated on numerous occasions, most notably Training Day (for which Denzel won an Oscar for Best Actor) and The Equalizer trilogy. Accordingly, Hannibal will be the sixth film they will make together.
Denzel Washington’s longtime project
For the famous American actor, the project of seeing his features for Hannibal dates back many years – but at the time, he did not want to get involved in projects that would take him away from his children for a long time.
Gladiator and Skyfall screenwriter John Logan is currently writing the script for the film. Denzel Washington and Antoine Fuqua are also involved in the project as producers, although we do not have information about the start of filming at the moment.
Consequently, the Hannibal movie won’t be available on Netflix until 2025 – at best.
