After a romantic comedy (Before You) and a family drama (And Suddenly I Miss Everyone), director Jennifer Devolder is considering her third feature.
He is particularly interested in a world quite unknown to the public and little mentioned in cinema, where the classic problem of gender and all the inequalities of access to work are reversed: the world of midwives.
Indeed, although midwifery training has been open to men since 1982, they still remain a very small minority in the profession.
After much research, Jennifer Devolder wrote the script for Sage-Homme with Cecil Selam. The film tells the journey of Leopold, who enters midwifery school after failing a medical exam.
Although he is involved without faith in this exclusively female environment and hides the truth from those around him, his meeting with Natalie, an experienced midwife with a passionate character, will change his view of this fascinating world and break his conviction.
A wonderful tribute to an under-appreciated profession. Good man It shines with its endearing characters, starting with its very relatable lead duo, who develop naturally with genuine caregivers.
In a custom role, Karin Viard plays Revelation’s Melvin Boomer. Chosen from over 200 candidates, this breakdancing enthusiast was particularly discovered in The World of Tomorrow, where his performance as a teenage joystar was unanimously praised.
on AlloCiné, Good man Holds a solid 4/5 viewer rating.
