Last February, Netflix announced a new project in the world of Pokemon. A series that follows the adventures of Haru, a young concierge at a recreation center dedicated to these amazing creatures.
The platform recently released the first trailer showing the heroine alongside Pikachu, Psyduck, Bulbasaur, Dragonite and Axoloto.
Catching Pokemon has the peculiarity that it is done in stop motion. An interesting technique by Japanese Satoshi Tajiri to give imaginative texture and more life to his “animals”.
This series, whose plot is as fast as Animal Crossing (…), is especially aimed at children and can be an introduction to the world.
But this new Netflix production should also please die-hard fans of the Nintendo franchise. The platform also enlisted Japanese star singer Maria Takeuchi to compose and perform the series’ official theme song (which can be heard in the trailer).
With a sequel to Pokémon: Detective Pikachu in the works and The Pokémon Receptionist coming to Netflix on December 28th, the brand isn’t likely to die out anytime soon. According to 2010 Nintendo statistics, Pokémon games have sold approximately 250 million units since their release in 1996.
