Rio de Janeiro is involved in the professional final of the Beach Tennis Federations Cup, held in Praia de Iracema, in Fortaleza (CE). The event is organized by the Brazilian Tennis Confederation and the Ceará Federation.

Captained for the first time by Niteroi native Ralff Abreu, the team defeated Paraná 2-1: in the first match they defeated Maria Ceballos and Gabriela Martins against Laura Rigotti and Flavia Deboni with a double 6/2. Next, in the men’s doubles, João Carneiro and Diogo Carneiro overcame Giovanni Cariani and Marcelo Reckby 3/6 6/3 10/4. In the mixed doubles Lorena Melo and Diogo beat Deboni and Cariani 6/3 6/4.

The Rio de Janeiro team will face their home team, Ceará, this Saturday in an unprecedented title fight, starting at 11am on air on Play BT. In the other semi-final the Ceará team beat Santa Catarina.

The Federations Cup has around 1,400 athletes from all Brazilian states where the champions by category will be rewarded, from professional to amateur and also the overall champion.
