Leclerc started from pole position and led most of the race, but was overtaken by Max Verstappen. With a decisive maneuver on the last lap, the Monegasque took the lead from Pérez, leaving him in third place. “What a race! Honestly, I really liked it. I’m sorry to be second, but it’s the best we could do,” he said.
Pérez explained that the car’s pace was good in the first stint, but that he was unable to distance himself from Leclerc, who was leading the race. The Mexican also highlighted the difficulty in dealing with the gusts of wind on the main straight. “In the end, with Charles, I wasn’t waiting for him, he was 0 seconds behind,” he said.
