Rain causes power outages in parts of Greater SP; see the forecast for the next few days


At least 100 trees fell in the capital last night, and another 42 calls were recorded by firefighters this Sunday




Once again, rain and falling trees caused instability of the electricity supply in Sao Paulo and in the metropolitan region, since the night of Saturday 18th. At least 100 trees fell in the capital last night alone, according to the Civil Protection. On the morning of this Sunday the 19th, until around 1pm, the firefighters recorded 42 calls for falling trees.

Wanted by Earth, Enel Distribuição São Paulo did not say how many properties were affected by the power outage. However, he said 80% of them have already had electricity restored.

“For power outage requests, the company advises customers to give priority to digital channels such as the Enel São Paulo APP or the virtual agency on the website www.enel.com.br. The distributor has also made available an SMS channel to record power outages. Just send a free message to the number 27373 with the word LUZ and the installation number that appears on your Enel account. Registration will take place automatically”, informs the company in a note.

Also on Sunday afternoon, several areas of the state of Sao Paulo recorded rain, with winds and lightning. The most intense areas, according to the Climate Emergency Management Center (CGE) of the Municipality of São Paulo, have moved from the capital to the center and north of the state.

For the next few days the CGE informs that:

  • Monday 20th light rain and drizzle are expected in the capital. The temperature should be between 17ºC and 24ºC.
  • On Tuesday 21st, the sun appears between the clouds, which means that the maximum can reach 30ºC, but the minimum is 18ºC. At the end of the day, the arrival of the sea breeze increases the cloud cover and favors the appearance of rain in the form of isolated showers, even of moderate intensity, but of short duration.
