How is the Enem 2023 essay corrected?
The Enem 2023 essay is corrected by at least two teachers with degrees in Literature or Linguistics, independently, without one knowing the performance attributed by the other, according to the Enem essay booklet.
The evaluators will evaluate the essay based on the five skills:

Competence 1: Demonstrate mastery of the formal written form of the Portuguese language.

Competence 2: Understand the written proposal and apply concepts from different fields of knowledge to develop the topic, within the structural limits of the thesis-argumentative text in prose.

Competency 3: Select, relate, organize, and interpret information, facts, opinions, and arguments to defend a point of view.

Competency 4: Demonstrate knowledge of the linguistic mechanisms necessary to construct an argument.

The grade for each competence can be from 0 to 200. The total cost of the essay is 1,000 points. The final mark will be the arithmetic mean of the marks of the two evaluators.

According to Julia Ferreira, one aspect that could be improved in the correction is the evaluation of cohesive strategies. Ferreira states that although Enem values ​​cohesive elements, there is no appreciation for other types of cohesive forms.
The more universal parameters used in the correction allow this ‘ready-made writing models’ perform well. Therefore, according to the teacher, some students resort to this method of “memorizing” the text model if they exercise their “ability to develop solid structures.”
“These formulas point to a problem with deeper roots: the gaps in basic education, which lead students to take this path at the expense of improving their discursive practice, since many do not have the opportunity to participate in more interactive and criticisms on the topic possibly included in the exam, and the correction grid itself, in part, can benefit texts that are not so authoritative”.

Discrepancy in writing grade
If the marks of the two evaluators have one of the following differences, the essay will be corrected by a third evaluator:

Difference greater than 100 points in total value.
-
80 point difference in one of the skills.
The third evaluator will independently assign the grade. It will be done arithmetic mean of the closest scores.
If the discrepancy persists, the booklet provides that a jury of three teachers will evaluate the essay, assigning a final and definitive grade.
What does the Enem 2023 essay mean?

text written mainly or entirely in a foreign language;

Empty Drafting Sheet, even if there is text written on the Drafting Sheets;
-
illegible text, which makes it impossible to read by two independent evaluators.

Enem 2023 result
OR Enem 2023 result will be released today January 16th. On this day, the AnÃsio Teixeira National Institute of Educational Studies and Research (Inep) will publish the Performance Report with the scores of all five exam tests on the participant’s page.
Candidates can use their grades in several ways, including in the Ministry of Education (MEC) selection processes:

Unified Selection System (SiSU): offers places in degree courses at public universities.

University for All Program (ProUni): offers full (100%) and partial (50%) scholarships at private higher education institutions.
