Nouveaux Riches is a hit on Netflix: Is this comedy any good? Strong subscriber opinions

This is a new comedy that hit Netflix. Available since November 17th, Nouveaux Riches has quickly climbed the platform’s top views to take first place. This film is directed by Julien Royal (who already owes us En passant pécho), who teams up with Nasim Lies in a totally insane new adventure.

In this feature film, Naseem Laiz plays Yus, a con man who is trying to get rich. During a poker game that goes wrong for him, he meets Stephanie (Zoe Marshall), who has become a millionaire thanks to cryptocurrency.

A great opportunity for Yus to finally pay off his debts. He tries to get closer to Stefan, but he’s not the only one who wants to steal his fortune…or is Stefan also a genius con artist?

In the Nouveaux Riches program: schoolboy humor, explosive action, exciting rhythm and above all big surprises! This comedy can count on its crazy cast: Adrienne Essamir, Youssef Ramal, Yovel Lewkowski, Yassin Stein, Cyril Gane, Alexander Kominek, Hedy Buchenafa, Paul Deb and Ichem Bouguereba.

But Nouveaux Riches also includes amazing guests such as Guillaume Canet, Panayiotis Pascoe, Gustave Kervern, Kenza Fortas, Hakim Cemil and Adele Exarchopoulos.

Rated 2.7 out of 5 by AlloCiné viewers at the time of writing, Nouveaux Riches has won over audiences who love crazy comedies. Hervé’s eye believes so “A breath of fresh air for French comedy! Excellent from start to finish!” and highlights the performance of Zoé Marchal, “Amazing Rising Star”.

Same story for David MA: “It’s rhythmic, funny, good beats and worth watching with a smile on your face for an hour and a half. Nasim Laiz and Zoe Marshall, both equally crazy in the film, are top notch. Good supporting roles too. Check it out.”

Kubrock68 highlights the mix of genres: “A liar meets a crazy woman. The movie is obviously shot on amphetamines (or something else). The story goes a little in every direction, but it holds the attention.

We often mix social classes and backgrounds awkwardly, but it works. It’s clearly a comedy, even if the stylized violence leans toward a thriller. Amazing movie.”

But for some internet users, this kind of humor didn’t work, especially for Laia, who thinks Nouveaux Riches is“Nameless Uselessness and Powerlessness” : “Nassim LYES, who I loved in Farang, sinks so low it’s uncomfortable to watch…grotesque characters, bad acting and a cardboard script. Disturbing.”

Netizen belghachemlaubu Manon condemns the writing of Nouveaux Riches dialogues: “A film can be good, but extremely vulgar. Not a single sentence without vulgarity at the highest level. There is no middle ground.”

A film critic is much harsher when watching a film: “Why is the movie like this, why are the actors so bad, we never believe it. Torture to watch, it’s completely embarrassing!”
