The Good Doctor: the actor leaves the cast to run for the United States Senate

ABC success, The good doctor will have another major loss in the team. According to TVLine, Hill Harper, an actor who has played Dr. Marcus Andrews since the series launched in 2017, will be leaving the production to focus on his run for the U.S. Senate.

Hill Harper believes that American democracy is in crisis: too often government works only for the rich and powerful, while the rest of us struggle to find a voice. Hill will dedicate himself fully to solving this problem, running for a seat in the Senate to become a voice for the country’s workers.

Representatives for Hill Harper told TVLine.

Harper will run for the state of Michigan, seeking to replace retiring Democratic Sen. Debbie Stabenow. The US elections will be held in November 2024.

For those who don’t remember, the last episode of the sixth season of The good doctor showed Harper’s character checking out of St. Bonaventure Hospital, leaving room for the actor to exit the scene.

The good doctor follows a young doctor with autism who begins to work in a famous hospital, with the constant need to demonstrate his worth and abilities. Over time he turns out to be a genius in the field of medicine.

Created by one of the authors of Home, Lar, David Shore, and critically acclaimed, the series has won numerous awards, such as the ASCAP Screen Music Awards for Best Television Series. Freddie Highmore has also received several award nominations for Best Actor in a TV Series.

In Brazil, the six seasons of The good doctor are available on Globoplay.
