The Prime Video platform has canceled three original series from its catalogue. The list includes two debut dramas, the thrillers “Refúgio” and “The Horrors of Dolores Roach,” as well as the comedy “Com Amor,” which lasted two seasons. All three were Amazon Studios productions (now renamed Amazon MGM Studios).
The cancellations make Prime Video less diverse, as all three featured minorities (blacks and Latinos) in lead roles.
Gloria Calderón Kellett (“One Day at a Time”) was the executive producer of two attractions, “The Horrors of Dolores Roach” and “With Love.” The first, based on the podcast of the same name (which in turn was based on the play “Empanada Loca”), follows a woman (Justina Machado) who is released after serving an unjust prison sentence and takes extreme measures to survive in the life of she. “Com Amor” follows the story of two brothers (Emeraude Toubia and Mark Indelicato) as they navigate the ups and downs of life and love, with each episode set on a different holiday.
To top it off, “Shelter,” based on a YA novel by Harlan Coben, revolves around a young man (Jaden Michael) who moves to a new town after his father’s death and soon becomes involved in the disappearance of a classmate . . Coben himself was showrunner of the series, together with his daughter Charlotte Coben.
