Is there any difference between the anime and the manga?
Anime refers to Japanese animation, i.e. Japanese cartoons or drawings. These productions can appear in the form of films or series, and are usually inspired by stories from the country’s culture or based on productions belonging to the branch of literature, such as manga; although there are also anime that gave rise to manga.
Manga is also a form of character illustration, just like anime, but they are connected to literature and share their stories through hand-drawn text and images. In other words, manga are Japanese comics. Unlike most Western comics, manga are colorless (i.e. they are produced, printed and distributed in black and white), and are read from right to left (from back to front in Western perception) because this is the meaning of reading Japanese. tongue.
The relationship between the two media is established from the moment in which anime become faithful adaptations of their manga: while manga produce black and white scenes and offer a more restricted movement of their characters; Anime has more creative freedom to enhance characters’ features, color their clothing and settings, and even add high flexibility to their animated movements.
In fact, when the manga, from which the anime is based, has not yet been completed and the adaptation approaches the last chapters published in the comics, the animation begins to show episodes called “fillers”: stories that are not present in the manga and this makes no difference to understanding the main narrative. The fillers delay the main story so that mangaka (manga author) has time to finish the manga and only then will the anime be able to resume the essential events.
