Who really is “Gossip Girl”?
In December 2012, at the end of its tenth season, the popular series created by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, adapted from the novels of Cecile Von Zigesar, came to an end and offered its fans a long-awaited answer to a burning question. which has been tickling them all this time.
The show, which depicts the daily life of two New York private schools, filled with romance, scandals and unrepeatable secrets, was actually highlighted by the scandalous publications of the “mysterious blogger” known as Gossip Girl. This unknown agitator, who seemed to know everything about the personal lives of the main characters, was most likely part of their group. But who was it really about?
In the last episode of the series, we finally learned that Gossip Girl was none other than Dan Humphrey, a single boy from a more modest neighborhood. This final revelation, which some fans felt did not fit with many of the events that had happened earlier in the series and which was not justified enough for their liking, caused much debate after season 6.
But if this twist of the theater was able to excite so many viewers, it is probably because the creators of the show originally planned a completely different plan. Indeed, as revealed in an interview with executive producer Joshua Safran (recently Collider), originally Eric, Selena’s little brother, was supposed to get the title of Gossip Girl:
“I always thought it was going to be Eric by the end of season two, and I was headed that way.” Thus he was entrusted to Safran VultureBefore it was suggested that it was a leak that broke everything.
“When the New York Post revealed that it was Eric — and today I still don’t know what happened, I think they just guessed — we realized we couldn’t go down that road, so we let it go.”
“Then we thought of Nate because you’ve never seen him post anything on Gossip Girl. But in the end it had to be Dan because Dan is a writer, an observer, and he can write in different styles.”
