Scary moments
In an interview with The newspaper, Caio said he was working when he saw a man attack a victim with a knife in Parnell Square East, a busy square in a residential area in central Dublin. The Brazilian immediately got out, took off his helmet and hit the attacker with the object.
“I didn’t even make a decision, it was pure instinct and everything was over in a few seconds. He fell to the ground, I didn’t see where the knife ended up and other people intervened,” said Caio. “I also have two kids, so I had to do something. I did what anyone would do. People were there but couldn’t intervene because they were armed, but I knew I could use my helmet as a weapon.”
The attack left five injured, three of them children. According to Prime Minister Leo Varadkar, the man suspected of committing the crime has been arrested.
