On Sundays on the air “Saturdays!” The popular Korean drama “Hotel Del Luna” is underway. The action of the series takes place in the center of Seoul in an unusual hotel. Its guests are ghosts whose souls will never find peace, and its director, a beautiful and young girl, has been running the hotel for over a thousand years. A young man comes to work for her and a romantic relationship develops between the characters.
Elements of mysticism are neatly woven into the plot.
The plot revolves around a mysterious hotel that ordinary people can only see during a lunar eclipse. The hotel serves the dead – sometimes ghosts are missing eyes or other body parts, and at first the footage from the series can be mistaken for a horror movie, but it is not. The image of the other world in the series is romanticized, and ghosts turn out to be characters with quite everyday problems. Like the audience, the protagonist, a young boy Ko Chang Son, having become a hotel manager, quickly gets used to his non-standard guests, and a love line comes to the fore in the series.
A heroine with a soft heart and a hard shell
Many centuries ago, in punishment for a grave sin, Zhang Man Wol became the director of the hotel and is now forced to serve the dead. Hence the behavior of the heroine: chaos is happening in her soul, and the girl’s character is bad. Indifferent to the world, she is only interested in luxury. Too proud and hating to show her weak side, she treats people quite rudely. But even through this mask, you can see her good features. And, of course, she can’t hide it after she falls in love with Ko Chan Sung.
The style of the heroine is a clear demonstration of the history of fashion
The main character is more than a thousand years old, and her style is a unique quintessence of fashion from different eras. From the very beginning, the filmmakers wanted to achieve a different style of the heroine in each of the scenes, so actress Lee Ji Eun took advice from a stylist, and also studied what outfits, hairstyles and accessories were fashionable in different periods of history.
Incredibly beautiful picture
“Hotel del Luna” is a sweet and touching tale about the power of love. Romantic landscapes in which the main characters meet, and confessions under the moon are proof of this. By the way, the series was filmed in Seoul, Paju, Incheon, Mokpo and other South Korean cities. Today, many fans of the series go on trips to the provinces of the country and make reviews from the filming locations of the project.
American remake and Korean musical
Despite the popularity of the project, the creators of the series still do not talk about the start of the new season. But don’t be in a hurry to get upset – in 2020, work on an American remake of the series was announced, and in 2021, the Korean company Showplay talked about the creation of the musical “Hotel del Luna”, which is scheduled to premiere in 2022.
