Criminals fear Man-Bat because they know he is always one step ahead, with various resources and protocols capable of putting them in difficult situations in the most diverse circumstances.

Beware of spoilers for Batman: Off-World #1!

But what happens when Batman faces alien criminals alone for the first time? How does Batman deal with villains who don’t know his reputation and aren’t afraid? And what is the best way to face them in unfamiliar terrain, without the protections and meticulous preparation that the Dark Knight builds in his domain?

Well, the answers lie in the interesting plot of Batman: Out of This World #1 1, released recently and which chronicles the early years of Batman’s career as a hero. As he tries to figure out how to deal with criminals in Gotham City for the first time, he suddenly finds himself thrust into a completely new situation: he’s transported into space aboard a ship full of alien thugs.

Batman is forced to face alien criminals who have no idea who he is and therefore have absolutely no reason to fear him. The human being who almost becomes a super being when he thinks like the villain and behaves like the hero, preparing for various types of scenarios, now needs to adapt to a context that he never imagined possible.

Batman’s greatest tactic is to explore the element of surprise with a modus operandi fundamentally driven by the drama of his approaches, which build a frightening, immortal urban legend. He invades the minds of enemies without leaving information about their profile and activities; and he activates all the triggers of anxiety, fear and paranoia, which destabilize opponents who know him.

His mastery over fear makes his meticulous and ruthless attacks much easier, as he simply needs to combine his physical strength and experience in physical combat with technological resources to quickly declare his victory with fatal and precise blows.

How does Batman deal with aliens who don’t fear him?

In Batman: Out of This World, Batman deals with alien criminals who don’t even know what a bat is and seem to be only vaguely aware of what a human is. For this reason, these bandits have absolutely no reason to fear him.

And this is being tested in space. Anyway, Bruce Wayne he already has an idea of how to turn the situation around, as he says: “They don’t know how to fear Batman. Only, for now.”
