The information was confirmed in public notes from the municipality of Cuiabá and the OAB Nacional, who expressed solidarity as parents of Giovane Santin, vice president of the OAB-MT.
In a statement, the mayor of Cuiabá, Abilio Brunini, the first lady Samantha Iris and the entire municipal team mourned the death. According to the official note, Velci died of a heart attack at home. Moments later, in an attempt to help him, Salete felt ill, had a stroke and also died.
“The couple leaves behind children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a history marked by love, faith and the example of togetherness and companionship,” City Hall posted.
The wake took place at the Nossa Senhora Aparecida funeral home, in Cassilândia, and the burial took place on Tuesday. “In this moment of pain and farewell, the City of Cuiabá expresses its solidarity with Vice President Giovane Santin, his family and friends, wishing them comfort and serenity in going through this profound loss” added the municipal administration.
Also in a note, Rubrica mourned the passing of the spouses and declared official mourning in honor of Giovane Santin’s family. “On behalf of the Federal Council of the OAB, I express my most sincere solidarity with my colleague Giovane Santin. May he and his family receive the necessary support to overcome this moment of mourning. The entire Brazilian legal profession unites in respecting the memory of his parents”, declared the national president of the OAB, Beto Simonetti.
