“Fools dare to do anything, and we know them that way.” “You have to admit… it’s brutal.” “But Raoul doesn’t know this guy! You’re going to have a painful awakening. . . .” These iconic replicas, as you probably know, come from the great classic Les Tontons flingueurs. And there are only three, far from it!
Released in cinemas in 1963, Les Tontons Flingueurs, directed by Georges Lautner, tells the story of Fernand Naudin, the owner of a small tractor factory, who is living a quiet and carefree life when a telegram calls to him in Paris. He arrives just in time to take his last breath from his childhood friend, Luis, known as “The Mexican”, who entrusts him with his shady dealings while also having custody of his daughter Patricia. And the trouble begins…

Filled with Michel Audiard’s irresistible dialogue, Les Tontons flingueurs remains a timeless classic of French cinema. The hilarity of the characters played by Lino Ventura, Bernard Blier and Frances Blanche cannot be overstated!
Adaptation of the novel To eat or not to eat By Albert Simonini (also co-screenwriter), Les Tontons flingueurs was the first collaboration between Georges Lautner and dialogue writer Michel Audiard, which lasted for thirteen other films, among which we can cite Ne nous fâchons pas (1966) or again The. The Professional (1981).
For the record, the atmosphere on the set of Tontons flingueurs was very funny. Indeed, Frances Blanche, emerging from the Café-Theater, loved to self-deprecate to the point of excess, much to the dismay of her partner, Lino Ventura, who in turn preferred the scripted and established. After hearing this, Georges Lautner turned a deaf ear to Ventura’s complaints and instead encouraged Francois Blanche in this direction.
Tonight on France 2 at 21:10.
