Although the franchise will continue in the cinema with a film that brings together several generations of karate kids, the Cobra Kai series is preparing to say goodbye to the public.
The Netflix series will end at the end of its sixth season, which has yet to begin filming due to the actors’ strike that has paralyzed Hollywood for much of 2023.
And while Cobra Kai’s end was never near, its lead actress Xolo Mariduena revealed her “huge sadness” On the idea of saying goodbye to the series. “I started the series when I was sixteen. I’ll be twenty-three when we finish, and I think we could have gone on for a few more years. I had so much fun!”
But the end of the series does not mean the end of the adventures of karateka apprentices and their masters Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence. For the American actor, an interview of our colleagues ColliderNo doubt the Cobra Kai team will reunite in the future:
Cobra Kai taught me so much about what I love and know about acting. Meetings in front of the camera or behind the scenes on the set are memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life. So I will be forever grateful for that and know that this is not the last time we will see each other. I’m sure in five years we’ll do a Cobra Kai reunion episode or something.
Recently cast in the DC Comics movie Blue Beetle, Xolo Mariduena plays Miguel in Cobra Kai. Raised by a single mother, the latter survives the attack of Johnny Lawrence, a former karate champion who was destroyed during a high school tournament against his rival Daniel LaRusso.
This encounter with this young disciple rekindles in Lawrence a taste for martial arts, but also a thirst for revenge against LaRusso. But over the course of the seasons, the two enemies would eventually become close as old adversaries: John Crease, founder of the Cobra Kai Dojo, then his partner Terry Silver.
The first five seasons of Cobra Kai are now available on Netflix.
