Didn’t like The Da Vinci Code, the big screen adaptation of Dan Brown’s bestseller, and are hesitant to start watching its prequel Angels and Demons?
Try it! Because the feature film, adapted from the same novelist and still directed by Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon, is genuinely honest entertainment.
Released in theaters in 2009, Angels and Demons chronicles the first-hand investigation of prominent symbologist Robert Langdon. Approaching the Vatican, he must foil a terrorist plot led by the Illuminati. This diabolical investigation he is about to lead is a trap, every secret a key, every revelation a threat…
This riveting thriller, exceptionally well paced and beautifully shot by Rome, marks the fourth collaboration between director Ron Howard and Tom Hanks after Splash, Apollo 13 and Da Vinci Code. The two men will meet again in 2016 for Dan Brown’s third film adaptation, Inferno.
In addition to Tom Hanks, the cast of Angels and Demons includes Ewan McGregor, Stellan SkarsgÄrd and Israeli actress Ayelet Zurer, who replaced Audrey Tautou as the female lead in The Da Vinci Code.
It should be noted that Ron Howard did not have permission to film in the Vatican area. So the production had to reproduce St. Peter’s Square in Rome identically, but… in California!
Angels and Demons was a huge success at the French box office with over 2 million releases.
Tonight on France 3 at 21:10.
