Corinthians should begin the process of transition of mandate between the current president, Duílio Monteiro Alves, and the president-elect, Augusto Melo, on Monday (27). The two are scheduled to meet at Parque São Jorge to discuss specific issues and also the “passing of the baton”.
“I am arriving here at the Corinthians headquarters, in the president’s office, for a transition meeting, which will certainly be peaceful,” said Augusto Melo, in a video on his social media.
Augusto Melo was elected last Saturday, in a vote at Parque São Jorge. He overtook André Negão, who had the support of Duílio Monteiro Alves. Despite being on opposite sides in the election, the president-elect hopes for a smooth transition with the current president’s team.
“We are all Corinthians fans and we want the best for Corinthians. What I hope for is a smooth transition to build the team for 2024, although the finance team has a good vision to aggressively attack the adequacy of our debts” , said Augusto, after being elected.
The passage allows Duílio to explain to Augusto the plans and problems of the current management. Furthermore, the meeting should also define other topics such as the renewal of the players’ contracts and the stadium’s debt towards Caixa.
Duílio Monteiro Alves, in fact, will continue to make decisions at Corinthians until January. Moreover, Augusto Melo should only take over on the 4th of the same month.
