Released in cinemas in 2008 after going out of competition at the Cannes Film Festival, Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull sees Steven Spielberg once again behind the camera, starring the iconic archaeologist, still played by Harrison Ford. Running on the trail of the legendary crystal skulls. On his trail, the cruel and luxurious Irina Spalko and her evil Russian landlords…

Coming nearly two decades after Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, this new installment is focused on… science fiction! Thus, after paying homage to the 1930s TV series in the first three films, George Lucas and Steven Spielberg Wanted to celebrate 1950s SF.

As Indy aged and the story of Kingdom of the Crystal Skull takes place in the 1950s, it was only fitting that his enemies evolve. Come out, therefore, Nazi soldiers. Cold War demands, the adventurous archaeologist now confronts the Russian army commanded by Irina Spalko, aka Cate Blanchett, a fan of the timeless saga.

Look out for actor Shia LaBeouf in the credits as Indiana Jones’ new sidekick. To prepare for the role, Steven Spielberg asked the actress to watch the feature films Seed of Violence, La Fureur de vivre and L’Equipée sauvage.

Despite the relatively less favorable reception of the previous three installments, Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull was no laughing matter at the box office. The feature film grossed over 786 million worldwide and attracted almost 4.2 million viewers in French theaters.

A few months after the release of the saga’s fifth and final opus, are you going to give this indie adventure another chance?
