We went to Camicado to learn how to put up a Christmas tree from scratch! Get tips on where to start, how to make bows and how to place decorations
Who hasn’t been to the mall this holiday season and thought “why on earth does my tree never look as good as these?” It is with this in mind that we went to Camicado for a step-by-step lesson on how to assemble a beautiful Christmas tree, worthy of being displayed in the window! OR Pablo Santanavisual merchandising for the brand, he set up a 1.5 m tree with us right there in the store, sharing (with a lot of patience and care) his advice and secrets for a wonderful result:
Step by step to put up a Christmas tree like the one in the shopping center
1. Open the tree
Christmas trees are stored in boxes with bent branches. Before anything else, you must open the branches to give the appearance of a full and voluminous tree. It takes a little time, because the ideal is to really shape every branch of the tree, but it’s worth it.
Once finished, insert it into the holder.
2. Flashing light

Once the tree is open and on the stand, it’s time to add the lights. The suggestion is this start from the bottom and go around until you reach the top of the tree. Since we wanted a well-lit tree, we used 2 rolls of lights.
3. Bonds

Bows cannot be missing on a beautiful tree. The reporter here thought it was just a matter of tying a bow to the tree branch, like a shoe knot. No wonder the results at home have never been good! Pablo explained everything you need to know to make a beautiful bow:
1. Cut 80cm pieces.

2. With the remaining tape, cut smaller, narrower strips (about 25cm).

3. Take one of the 80cm pieces and cross the ends.
4. Do the same with another 80cm piece, but with the fins a little smaller.

5. Join the two ribbons and fold them to form the center of the bow.

6. Use the narrowest strips to tie a knot and complete the bow.

7. Trim the ends of the bow to finish and adjust the edges so they are round!
If you have a tree with flexible branches it is not necessary to use ropes, you can attach cable ties secure them with the ends of the branches. Place the laces evenly across the tree, leaving about the same amount of space between them.

Tip 1: You can use two different ribbons for a bow with more texture and detail.
Tip 2: If you don’t have a star, one of the bows you just made can serve as a beautiful tree top.
Camicado has different models of ribbons, with different colors and prints. Each roll of ribbon makes 5 bows. For our tree we used 8 rolls of ribbon.
4. Plush toys

To the Teddy bear They enter the tree bringing a touch of sweetness and volume. Place the dolls in the spaces between the zip ties, once again using the branches themselves to secure them (if your tree isn’t flexible, you can use string). The hint is start with the larger stuffed animals. In our tree we use 9 soft toys.

5. Christmas balls

You can mix different types of polka dots, following the same style or the same color. Pablo’s golden advice is that take a ride on the rope when they hang them on the branches, so that they don’t fall and appear to really sprout from the tree.

For our tree we used 4 types of baubles, 20 each (much more than I imagined!). Simply fill in the gaps between the bows and stuffed animals. The models we use here are new versions, including one made of glass.
6. Whatever

Now complete it with the other decorations, we added super cute dolls. The hint is also wrap the cable, just like we did with the balls, so they don’t look like they’re hanging. They will finish filling the tree completely.

Your mall Christmas tree is finished! For this lay journalist, what surprised the most was the amount of decorations needed for the tree to be “full”, so the secret is to make nice bows and invest in larger decorations (like the soft toys we show). It took Pablo less than 1 hour to assemble this tree, it will definitely take us a little longer. But, in the best Christmas spirit, there is no need to rush, gather your family and friends and have fun creating beautiful decorations! See a step-by-step summary here:
