A play on words to decipher the pediment of the Mirror of Erisdid in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, the most suspicious blonde wig on Gilderoy Lockhart’s desk in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, the surprise appearance of the house elf Dobby in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire…
Like many pop culture franchises, the magical saga, adapted from the works of JK Rowling, contains plenty of fine details for the most discerning viewer.
Airing tonight on TF1, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, the fifth installment in the franchise, also features Easter eggs and winks. By opening your eyes at the right time, you might catch a glimpse of James and Oliver Phelps’ photographic cameos, or even the magical diversions of cereal boxes.
But the detail hidden in the middle of the film that interests us today is more surprising than the others. To find it, you’ll have to pause the image at 1 hour, 13 minutes and 44 seconds into the featurette, in the scene where Harry talks to his godfather Sirius Black in front of the latter’s genealogical mural.
Coming from a line of wizards with a rather infamous past, Sirius then reminisces about his origins with his godson by showing him the tapestry. In addition to the blackened portraits of certain members (erased because they were not considered worthy to remain in the black family) or the names of several ancestors, which regularly refer to stars or constellations, we can also notice a jacket to the left of the door. About foreign weapons (see below).
It’s a kind of mermaid with a crown and two fish tails on the bottom left of the screen. If this picture rings a bell, it’s completely normal. In fact, it is the same emblem that we see on the sign of the famous American coffee chain Starbucks: a logo that would also be borrowed from a 15th century Scandinavian wood engraving.
Sirius Black’s family, in addition to being among the most distinguished line of wizards, contains ancestors who specialized in selling coffee?
