Before directing Man of Steel and Batman v Superman, Zack Snyder started in the superhero genre with Watchmen (2009)
One of the best directors of the generation, Christopher Nolan directed several acclaimed films, such as Interstellar (2014) and Oppenheimer (2023), and also has a lot of opinions on superhero productions. The most recent one is about Watchmen (2009), from Zack Snyderwhich the filmmaker defined as “ahead of its time.”
It is worth remembering how the Nolan was quite successful in the superhero genre as filmmaker of the trilogy formed by Batman Begins (2005), Batman the dark knight (2008) and Batman the Dark Knight Rises (2012).
During an interview with The Hollywood Reporterthe director has analyzed the genre since the release of Watchmen. “I always believed Watchmen he was ahead of his time. The idea of a team of superheroes, with brilliant subversions, was not something present in the films,” he said. “It would have been fascinating to see the feature released after The Avengers – The Avengers (2012).”
