Nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor in the musical biopic Tick, Tick… Boom!, Andrew Garfield moved from New York City to the Internet in The Amazing Spider-Man, co-founding Facebook with Jesse Eisenberg for the social network. Went in search of a missionary Liam Neeson in Scorsese’s The Silence and went to war without firing a single shot in Thou Shalt Not Kill.
- The best scene in cinema, according to Liam Neeson, it is!
The now 40-year-old young actor, who is best known to the general public for his features as Peter Parker, has given us many unforgettable movie moments. But what are some of his best viewer memories?
Back in 2012, when he donned the Spider-Man suit for the first time, we asked him what he thought was the coolest scene ever filmed. Then he mentioned to us a very nice movie from the 80’s in which Tom Hanks played… a 12 year old kid.
“There are so many that come to mind, but there’s one in particular. It’s an iconic scene that means a lot to me. A funny scene that I love and makes me cry just thinking about it. It’s in Big with Tom Hanks when he plays. The giant piano in Schwarz’s store . I love this scene, it’s beautiful.”
This fantasy comedy directed by Penny Marshall earned Tom Hanks his first Oscar nomination. He played a young Joshua Baskin, a boy who wants to grow up and wakes up one morning as an adult. He then left for the high life in New York, where he took a position at a famous toy store.
“The Big One was one of my favorite movies growing up because of its innocence and the joy of discovery. And Tom Hanks is great. I love that movie.”– continued Andrew Garfield on our microphone.
