On September 7, Netflix released the first 10 episodes of Virgin River Season 5 online, which was rich with emotion for Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack (Martin Henderson). The two lovers really had to face a terrible ordeal that disrupted their future plans.
In the final minutes of episode 10, Mel is shocked to learn that her mother sent love letters to a man in Virgin River. An exchange that suggested he had an affair with her thirty years earlier and that he might be the nurse’s father.
So in the second episode of season 5, which went online this Thursday, November 30, on Netflix, we finally learn the name of this mysterious person.
Who is Mel’s father?
When the first burst of episodes came out, AlloCiné speculated on the identity of Mel’s father. Three Virgin River residents seem to have been profiled: Doc (Tim Matheson), who maintains an almost paternal relationship with the young woman, Nick Montgomery (Keith McKechnie), Jo Ellen’s husband, and finally Buck, Lily’s late husband. But it seems like the writers love to play on our nerves because none of these three characters is Mel’s father.
Over the course of two Christmas episodes, Mellie and Jack set off in search of this mysterious man. And in the course of their investigation, which takes them to the four corners of the Virgin River, they succeed in tracking down a certain Everett Reed, a character we have never met before, played by John Allen Nelson for the occasion. The face of the actress may not be familiar to you, as she was one of the stars of the soap Santa Barbara.
Although he initially denies that he is a forerunner to the nurse, he changes his mind in the final moments of season 5 and comes to see Mel at her chalet. It is with this moving reunion that this new burst of episodes ends.
Season 6 of Virgin River, which has already been ordered by Netflix, should therefore revolve around the relationship that develops between a father and his daughter, and should also allow us to learn more about this character.
