Attention adventure lovers! Prime Video has just announced the launch of a new Spanish production with the series Zorro, which will be available in January 2024. After Douglas Fairbanks, Guy Williams, Antonio Banderas… Now Miguel Bernardo, the elite star, will star. A masked vigilante in a new Prime Video series dedicated to the famous character created by Johnston McCully in 1919.
The series promises a fresh take on the legendary vigilante, led by actors Miguel Bernardo, Renata Notney and Cecilia Suarez (La casa de las flores). According to Prime Video, Zorro delivers an exciting mix of action and drama in a powerful, twist-filled story.
The story (Girls on the Phone) written by Carlos Portella has a very similar premise to the other works on the character. De la Vega’s role as the new Zorro will have the sole purpose of finding his father’s killers. The first season consists of ten episodes.
“Diego de la Vega is chosen as the new Zoro, but his only goal is to unmask his father’s killers and bring them to justice. When he takes on the role of Zorro, Diego not only fights for justice in Los Angeles, but also discovers the challenges of being a hero and how his role affects 19th century California.“, we read in the product synopsis.
The Prime Video series comes 25 years after the release of the film that defined an entire generation: The Mask of Zorro. Directed by Martin Campbell and starring Antonio Banderas, Anthony Hopkins and Catherine Zeta-Jones, the 1998 film grossed over $250 million and was a box office success, spawning a sequel.
That’s why 2005 saw The Legend of Zorro, also directed by Campbell, with Bandera and Zeta-Jones. In the story, De La Vega tries to live a normal life without her secret identity, but things won’t be easy for her and her family.
