Silvana Taquesmother of Larissa Manoelawas indicted by the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro for religious racism against the actress’s boyfriend and his family, André Luiz Frambach.
Silvama called the family of the actor, who are Kardecist spiritualists, “macumbeira”.
According to columnist Lauro Jardim of the newspaper O Globo, the Civil Police underlined in its report that a racist act occurred “in accordance with what is established in this procedure and with sufficient evidence of paternity”.
In the testimony, André said he “did not feel offended or religiously discriminated against” by his mother-in-law. He also reported that he only found out about her message when Larissa agreed to talk about her professional breakup with her parents on Fantástico (Globo).
Taques was investigated after the Rio Commission for Combating Religious Intolerance, represented by lawyers Carlos Nicodemos and Rodolfo Xavier, filed a criminal complaint against her. The singer would have been summoned to testify, but obtained an injunction not to go to the police station. Silvana, for her part, has not yet made any statements and has tried to have the complaint dismissed.
