Former player of Fluminense and Botafogo, Somalia is hospitalized for a haemorrhagic stroke

Last Friday, former player Wanderson de Paula Sabino, better known as Somalia, was hospitalized due to a hemorrhagic stroke. He is in a hospital located in Ipatinga, Vale do Aço (MG).

The former athlete, teammate of América-MG striker Denis Ricardo, announced on his social networks, on behalf of his friend’s family, that he is under observation and at the moment there is no further news. The message was reposted on Somalia’s Instagram.

“News that I come to share on behalf of the family of my friend Wanderson de Paula Sabino, Somalia. While he was visiting his parents in Ipatinga, he suffered a hemorrhagic stroke and is under observation at the hospital in the same city. Let us pray so that everything will be resolved in the best possible way,” Denis wrote.

Somalia played for several clubs, both Brazilian and foreign, but it was at São Caetano that the former player became an idol. The striker at the time was part of the glorious years of the São Paulo team and took part, in addition to being second in the Brasileirão (2001) and the Libertadores (2002), in the victory of the Campeonato Paulista in 2004. The state title will be considered the greatest result in history by Azulão.

In 2007, the athlete returned to the ABC Paulista team and, in the same year, was signed by Fluminense. With Tricolor Carioca he did not have great performances, but was part of the Libertadores runners-up in 2008. He also played at Grêmio and Botafogo in Brazil, as well as Feyenoord, in the Netherlands.
